What you record
Record each finding where you find it, from the outside walls to the sub-floor void and roof space, with what it is, such as penetrating damp or wet rot, a moisture reading where you take one, a priority and the recommended action. Add up to 10 photos you can mark up, and pin findings to a floor plan as you go. The construction and the moisture meter you used are recorded once.
For damp and timber inspections of houses, flats and small commercial buildings, whether the problem is damp, condensation, rot or wood-boring insects. Each finding is classed by type, from rising damp to a leak from services, and the findings summary lists each one with its moisture reading.
The moisture meter’s make, model and scale are recorded with the construction, and the report’s introduction notes that readings are indicative and depend on the meter and the material tested.
